Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a common virus that can lead to certain cancers and other health issues if not treated. Around 80% of women will contract HPV at some point in their lives, making it crucial to understand and manage this condition. At Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center, you can receive an HPV vaccine to protect yourself and reduce the risk of HPV-related complications.

Our wide range of women’s medical services, in addition to community education and outreach programs, help make sure women have the resources they need to stay healthy. Below outlines each of the services:
Gynecology. Whether you are seeking routine gynecologic care or treatment for a more complicated condition, our experienced team of doctors, midwives, and physician assistants provides the full scope of gynecologic services. We offer well-woman visits, pap smears, birth control, pregnancy testing, preconception counseling, Sexually Transmitted Infections (formerly STDs) testing, and care for gynecologic problems.
Mammography. To help detect breast cancer early, women should begin receiving mammograms between ages 40-50. We have partnered with Yale-New Haven Hospital to bring its mobile mammography van to our 410 Campbell Ave, West Haven, 428 Columbus Avenue, New Haven, and 197 Dixwell Ave, New Haven offices on a regular schedule. The van is outfitted with the latest in screening equipment for breast exams and evaluations.
Obstetrics. If you are looking for compassionate, personalized prenatal care, our Women’s Health department is your place to come. Our midwives shape prenatal care for what each mother-to-be needs most. We also offer a variety of pregnancy support services, including WIC (Women, Infants and Children) and Home Visiting. We provide all the care you’ll need before, during and after pregnancy.
Women, Infants and Children (WIC). Are you a mom-to-be or a mom with children under five? Then our Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program might be for you. WIC, which is part of our Early Childhood Department, is a free nutrition program that provides healthy foods, nutrition education and breastfeeding support to families who qualify.
Title X is a government program that helps provide discounted prices for family planning services to low income women.
To be eligible you must be:
Anyone of reproductive years who can achieve a pregnancy
Individuals who have been ongoing patients of the program but are no longer of reproductive age
Individuals in need of the services regardless of income, insurance, or residency status
Family planning services provided free of charge under Title X include:
Visits for birth control
Birth control medications and devices
Pregnancy test
Consultation for sterilization
Additional charges will be applied for gynecologic services provided (such as cancer screenings, treatment for gynecologic problems, or gynecologic procedures) based on the Sliding Fee Scale.

No, we are not a free clinic. We provide healthcare services for a fee. However, because we are a Federally Qualified Health Center, we are able to offer reduced rates to people without insurance as long as they qualify based on income and family size.
Costs will vary based on your specific situation. We accept all insurance including Medicare, Medicaid (Title 19), HUSKY, Charter Oak, and most commercial insurance plans. For anyone without health insurance, we offer services on a sliding-fee scale, which means you pay only what you can. We also can provide assistance with access to State support and services.
