I have been an RN for 35 years. I have worked in Public health for 27 years and in the hospital setting for 10 years. Working at CSHHC in the past 3 years has allowed me to continue to follow a lifelong passion of working in pediatrics and to reach a wide community of people that I identify with and care deeply for. As a Hispanic Nurse, I deal daily with patients who appreciate and feel they are getting excellent health care because there is someone who understands their culture and speaks their language. I regularly speak Spanish and Portuguese to assist in providing high standards of care.
Management at CSHHC has created a climate that fosters professional growth and respects all team members. I have felt part of a team that has become my work family. I have felt comfortable being able to express my concerns and ideas to my manager.
CSHHC is a great place to continue to grow and to enjoy a professional climate that values your experience and your hard work.
Working at CSHHC has provided me opportunities for leadership, personal growth and an opportunity to follow my passion for working in pediatrics.

I connect with the mission of CSHHC as there is a great need for people to be cared for with a desire to see them become better in more ways than just physically. The community that CSHHC serves is often misunderstood, devalued, ignored, and dehumanized and we have the unique opportunity to show them that they are important and respected. Acknowledgement of who a person is, their past, their present, their struggles, and their successes is an understated gift that we can give these patients. It is important for us as staff to connect with the mission because we can look past all of the difficulties we may encounter and maintain the value that these patients are worth the effort to connect with and care for.
In working with the team, there is a high value on making things work even in hard times. As I’ve worked with the medical management, I’ve seen the efforts to improve and be a part of the improvement and bringing of effective care for the patients.
Those who would apply to CSHHC should be aware of the dedication that we bring to these patients. We aspire to leave no stone unturned and seek those who would work alongside who desire to see the best for our community.
I have had the opportunity to develop my leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills during my time at CSHHC. The RN visits particularly engage me to provide effective and comprehensive care and develop a forward-thinking plan for patient education and follow up. The ability to evaluate a patient and then bring the information to the provider with a plan is a valuable part of the RN role that I especially love.

I highly connect with the mission of Cornell Scott because to me my main priority and importance is to create a safe environment and take care of all of my patients needs and prioritize their health as well as going above and beyond to help them with anything they need that will make their life easier and less stress free as possible. It's important for an organization to have employees that connect with the organization's mission because it inspires everyone to do and be better, as well as working as a team for our providers, peers and patients . In addition, as well to help and educate patients on how to live a healthier lifestyle.
In my opinion leadership , team management and teamwork make Cornell Scott Hill Health Center different from other organizations.
Something I would want any potential candidate to know about Cornell Scott is that we are all a team and there's room to grow and learn from all of our outstanding different clinics.
Being part of the Cornell Scott family has helped my professional Career because I have been lucky enough to have the chance to work at every department Cornell has to offer as well as the opportunity to learn from every department such as specialties, infectious control, SCRC and others. It has helped me expand and strengthened my knowledge . It has also given me the opportunity to work with diverse patients throughout the clinic. it has also given me the chance to care for my patients and their health. I have been able as well to facilitate any needs they may have to make things easier for them.

CSHHC has been a staple in the community for more than 55 years and it is because we have always provided passionate care. Being a part of this legacy is something I personally connect with because it allows me to focus on why I became a nurse: compassion. To me, compassion means recognizing the suffering of others and then taking action to help. Being a part of CSHHC allows me to take action to truly help the underserved in my community. Connecting with the mission of the company makes the work more enjoyable and in turn, provides better patient outcomes.
I would like potential candidates to know that working here allows you to be a part of something that is greater than yourself. You genuinely feel connected to the work and get to see the difference you make in the lives of your patients.
Working at CSHHC has completely set the standard for my professional career. It has given me the experience of genuinely making a difference in my community and allows me to help the groups of people who often need it the most. I love seeing positive health outcomes in our patients that I have directly contributed to. The part of my job I value the most is the hands-on and patient-centered approach that we have with our patients and the interpersonal relationships I have made with my coworkers, who have become my family.
