WHO: Senator Chris Murphy
WHAT: Pre-existing Conditions Round-table in New Haven
WHEN: Friday, June 7th at 9am
WHERE: Cornell Scott – Hill Health Center | 428 Columbus Ave, New Haven, CT
Murphy, a member of the U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, will meet with local residents and community advocates in New Haven to discuss what’s at stake for the 522,000 people in Connecticut and over 130 million Americans with pre-existing conditions as the Trump administration and Republicans in Congress continue to sabotage our health care system. In May, Murphy launched “Share Your Story” campaign to invite people in Connecticut to share their health care stories and describe how they would be impacted if Republicans are successful in their attempts to gut the Affordable Care Act. Murphy has held similar roundtables in areas of the state to hear firsthand how the people of Connecticut would be affected if the administration was able to do away with protections for those with pre-existing conditions.
Last year, 18 Republican Attorneys General—led by Texas—sued the federal government, arguing that protections for those with pre-existing conditions in the Affordable Care Act are unconstitutional. The U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals will hear arguments in this lawsuit July 9, 2019.
