Director of Marketing and Community Relations
A pillar in the New Haven community, Carlah Esdaile-Bragg has dedicated over 35 years to her personal and professional journey of community involvement. Having held prominent positions in both corporate and the non-profit sector as well as serving numerous influential Boards of Directors and Advisory Boards throughout Connecticut, Carlah is an impactful and authentic New Haven leader and strategist committed to connecting, mentoring, and empowering individuals facing systemic disenfranchisement and others. She thrives in her position through a profound combination of vision, creativity, and art.
As the Director of Marketing and Community Relations for the Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center (CS-HHC), Carlah is an empathetic team builder with a strong sense of community and engagement. Carlah strategically and intentionally showcases her appreciation for employees through a deliberate marketing approach, amplifying their voices and visibility within the community by featuring them prominently in advertising. Carlah exemplifies strong program development, budget management, and community relations skills, which she leverages to spearhead the organization’s award-winning Marketing department.
Following in the CS-HHC mission, Carlah ensures excellence and compassionate care within the communities of service through instilling quality measures in the marketing department and through her extensive network of collaborations and partnerships. Under her leadership, the health center marketing department has successfully partnered with a variety of community stakeholder and grass-roots organizations including the Southern Connecticut State University’s (SCSU) School of Business to support college student internships and the ECHO Perfect 10 Internship Program for High School students.
A child of entrepreneurial immigrant grandparents, Carlah was trained to have a strong work ethic while spreading love and kindness. Her career is a lifestyle. Carlah has served as the Chief Operations Officer and Economic Development Administrator at Empower New Haven, Inc., Director of Reentry Services for Easter Seals - Goodwill Industries in New Haven and Manager of Special Reentry Projects for Family Reentry, Inc. in Bridgeport. In these roles, she led federally funded multi-year programming producing exceptional nationwide-leading outcomes. She is committed to mentorship because she believes excellence and accountability must be studied. Her commitment is evidenced by her instrumental role in revitalizing five Greater New Haven NAACP college chapters, steering them toward resounding success and then providing continual support to those Advisors to succeed her in that role.
Carlah is passionate about her family, serving her community and promoting healthy living. Following in the family footsteps, Carlah has maintained notable entrepreneurial endeavors, including launching C.E.B. Consulting. Leveraging her wealth of experience, she passionately supports nonprofit causes and engages with corporate communities, offering strategic insights and expert guidance, all while excelling in the art of relationship building.
Carlah earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern CT State University, majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. She has been honored for her community service leadership by the New Haven Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc., the City of New Haven’s Project Fresh Start Prison Reentry Faith Based Committee, The Epsilon Iota Iota Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Inc., the Greater New Haven NAACP Branch and Youth Council, the Freddie Fixer Parade Committee, The Knickerbocker Golf Club, Inc., The Perfect Blend, Arabic Temple#40 and Arabic Court #95, and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women.
Carlah currently serves as a Career Springboard Platform Board Member for Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) School of Business, is a community participant on the Yale University Anti-Racism task force under the School of Psychiatry, International Festival of Arts and Ideas Board of Directors, New Haven Dress for Success Advisory Board, the Collaboration of Minority Women Professionals Advisory Board and member and TJAY Autism Foundation Fundraising Board. She proudly serves the CT State Conference of NAACP Branches as an Executive Committee Member, Chairing “The Great Debate” which has hosted as many as 10,000 students from the tri-state area, supports the “Harmony Classic” and the One Million Jobs Campaign. Carlah is a member of the Greater New Haven NAACP, The New Haven Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc., and WIN -Women in the NAACP.
