NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Street Medicine Team is among the medical services provided by Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center, a community health center serving Greater New Haven and the Lower Naugatuck Valley.

Philip Costello, a clinical director, leads a team of people throughout the city to help those who are unhoused.

With the cold weather, Costello says they observe a lot of health issues.

“This time of year, we see a lot of frostbite, a lot of foot issues like trench foot and perma bite on the toes; corns and calluses because they can’t air out or take care of their feet,” Costello said.

The team often goes to different parks, libraries and streets to make sure people are doing alright.
