Alana Ladson

Alana Ladson is a painter, illustrator, and graphic designer from New Haven, CT. She creates positive and powerful artwork of folks, particularly BIPOC folks, along with nature and other fun, beautiful, and whimsical things. Alana has provided illustration and design work for organizations and events such as the Arts Council of New Haven, Women Who Create, DiasporaCon, Music Haven, Haven Arts Park, and more.

Having navigated various health challenges, Alana felt deeply inspired to bring her artistic spark to this project. Her work is vibrant, storybook-like, and delightfully unique. She was selected as a We Need Diverse Books mentee for children’s book illustration and has exhibited her art at venues including Loomis Chaffee’s Mercy Gallery, Artspace, and the New Haven Free Public Library.

Alana also founded and led The Rooted Collective, an exploratory artist collective and fellowship program for BIPOC women and nonbinary individuals in New Haven to create art while exploring their identities and creative practices.’
