Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center’s Child & Family Guidance (CFG) was recognized by the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce at the 22nd Annual Health Care & Life Science Awards, held on July 24, receiving the Well-Being/Wellness Program award.

Child & Family Guidance provides children and adolescents with the support and tools needed to address the significant challenges they face, with holistic care that addresses the physical, emotional, and social aspects of a child's well-being.

The exceptional CS-HHC staff of behavioral health professionals specializes in evidence-based treatments, working with clients one-on-one or in group or family settings, striving to ensure that every child receives the highest caliber of care in a welcoming, nurturing environment.

Connecticut’s Department of Children and Families has noted that CFG is a crucial part of the state’s vital network “to meet the needs of children with behavioral health needs across Connecticut.” Families across the region seek out their services for a comprehensive range of Behavioral Health services including routine individual, group, family therapy, medication management, substance abuse treatment, case management and crisis intervention.

During the past year, there were 18,585 patient visits - by individuals from 81 Connecticut communities, including young people ranging from children 10 or younger to youth ages 16-20.

Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center CEO Michael R. Taylor, in accepting the award, noted that “Being a child or adolescent today too often means encountering peer pressure, bullying, abuse, trauma, anxiety or depression. That is the undeniable reality, and it is our collective obligation to guide and support our children, and their families, through these challenges - productively, consistently, and responsively.”

Taylor also expressed appreciation for the commitment of Chief Medical Officer of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Dr. Ece Tek, and “an exceptional staff of dedicated behavioral health professionals. There is no greater moment than the joy we see in the face of a child, or a sibling, or a parent, when enduring progress is made on the road to a better, healthier future.”

The range of services provided include individual, group, and family therapy as well as mental health evaluations, outpatient counseling, and case management services, prioritizing the building of strong relationships in families and involving parents in the decision-making process, ensuring personalized and family-centered care.
